"Feast yer peepers on this all singing, all dancing new project from This Heat pivot, Charles Hayward, constructed with the help from the good and talented folk at Salford's Islington Mill. Back in June/July of summer 2014, Charles embarked the Mill's first Samarbeta residency, organised by Emma Thompson (Fat Out festival) and Riv Burns (Sounds From The Other City), as a way to give musicians a similar sort of artistic freedom that's usually afforded artists practising within visual mediums. Legendary and influential percussionist Hayward turned out to be the perfect candidate, rallying members of Part Wild Horses Mane on Both Sides, Gnod, 2 Koi Karp, Horrid, Locean, and Tombed Visions to his open source, improvised band format. Recording sessions between the massed number and street performers in Piccadilly gardens were subsequently whittled down with modular man and engineer Sam Weaver at the Mill, making for a wildly diverse montage of voices, styles, emotions razzing from auto-tuned avant-pop thru tribal psychedelia and fiery, motorik post-punk, each hingeing on Hayward's distinctive, rolling drums but each liable to divert in myriad directions."
