XAVIER GARCIA : Virtuel Meeting

'“Virtual Meeting” is a discographic project produced for the Signature collection of Radio France in 2000.
The idea was to proceed as in electroacoustic (or concrete) music, that is to say by starting by making material to compose only then. Rather than recording sound bodies or electronic sounds, I wanted the material produced to come from extremely lively instrumental improvisation. I asked 5 musicians to record in the studio solo sequences (with some very simple guidelines) and totally improvised duet sequences with me. the musicians are therefore never crossed. I then worked on the material to completely recompose pieces, thus building a virtual orchestra. This project is in a way the first point of contact between my practice as an electroacoustic composer and that of improvisation.'
