シェーンベルクやストラヴィンスキーらに先んじて、無調、ポリリズム、多調、微分音を導入した米国初の前衛音楽家チャールズ・アイヴスの交響曲第1番～第4番と、オーケストラ・セット第1番「ニューイングランドの3つの場所」とオーケストラ・セット第2番。
Los Angeles Philharmonic, Zubin Mehtaの交響曲第1番と2番、The Cleveland Orchestra, Christoph von Dohnanyiの交響曲第4番とオーケストラ・セット第1番、The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Neville Marrinerの交響曲第3番。
どれもすばらしい演奏です。
「祭日交響曲」と「宇宙交響曲」は入ってませんが、アイヴスはこれだけでいいかも。
