JEAN CLAUDE ELOY, FRANK W. BECKER, MICHAEL RANTA : 音の始源を求めて ９ - 小島努の仕事３ - Foreigners piece Collection

1970年代、NHK電子音楽スタジオには外国人の作曲家が多く募った、その中から３人の外国人作家の作品を集めました。　

1.楽の道より「B-5」ジャンク・クロード・エロア（1978）
フランス人の作曲家ジャンク・クロード・エロアは1977年〜1978年の間に3度来日し、述べ7ケ月近く掛けて「楽の道」を制作した。この制作にはNHK電子音楽機器で作成した電子音と作曲家/エンジニアの発想とフィールドワークによって収集された具体音が多種多様な素材として用いられている。のべ、6時間5分4秒に及ぶ大作の一部。

2. インカージョン　フランク・ベッカー （1972）
アメリカの作曲家、フランク・ベッカーは日本に 14 年間滞在し、武満徹、湯浅譲二、高橋アキ、一柳慧と実験音楽の作曲、演奏などを行なった。この曲は1972年8月〜9月に作曲、完成されたテープ音楽。自然音やジェット機の始動音、竹や金属の風鈴の音など様々な素材が使われている。

3 月蝕　マイケル・ランタ（1974 ）
1972年初めの月食の際にラオスを旅したマイケル・ランタが、地元の村人達がその日の天の出来事に非常に感情的かつ本能的に反応しているさまを描いたテープ音楽。打楽器奏者でアメリカ人の彼は太極拳の動きを音楽に取り入れたいと。スタジオではエキスパンダーを作り、ゆっくりとした動きを音楽に取り入れた。

1.GAKU-NO-MICHI「Bー5」JEAN CLAUDE ELOY
French composer JEAN CLAUDE ELOY visited Japan three times between 1977 and 1978 and spent a total of nearly seven months creating “GAKU-NO-MICHI". This work was created using a wide variety of materials, including electronic sounds created by NHK electronic music equipment and concrete sounds collected by the composer/engineers based on his ideas and fieldwork. This is part of a larger work that lasted 6 hours, 5 minutes, and 4 seconds in total.
2.In Carson. FRANK W. BECKER
American composer Frank Becker spent 14 years in Japan, composing and performing experimental music with Toru Takemitsu, Joji Yuasa, Aki Takahashi, and Toshi Ichiyanagi. This piece of tape music was composed and completed between August and September 1972. Various materials were used, including nature sounds, the sound of a jet plane starting up, and the sound of bamboo and metal wind chimes.
3.Chanta Khat MICHAEL RANTA
This tape music by MICHAEL RANTA who traveled to Laos during the lunar eclipse of early 1972, depicts the local villagers' highly emotional and instinctive reactions to the heavenly events of the day. As a percussionist, the American wanted to incorporate tai chi movements into the music, so he built an expander in the NHK Electronic Music Studio and incorporated slow movements into the music.
