'In September 1925, seven students came together in Brussels to form the first collective of composers in the history of Belgian music - Les Synthétistes - who wanted to break away from the late Romantic style and connect with contemporary music. In the absence of symphony orchestras in Belgium, they composed and transcribed original works for wind orchestra, and their collaboration with Arthur Prevost and the Band of the Belgian Guides produced a unique canon of original modern music on Brussels concert stages during the interwar period. This recording is an impressive response to the unfair neglect of this repertoire in modern times.'
